The Committee congratulates Dot Hutton on receiving the SCS award at a celebration of International Women’s Day on 6 March.
The award was for her long-term efforts towards establishing the Anglesea Perimeter Walk, which we expect will be completed towards the end of April.
Angair offer to send additional information by e-mail to interested members.
In last month’s newsletter, we offered to send occasional e-mails to interested members, with information from outside bodies, such as notification of future planned conservation activities, updates from conservation organizations, extracts from other newsletters, which cannot be fitted in the Newsletter. This offer is still available, so if you would like to receive this type of information, please send an email to admin@angair.org.au, requesting that you be added to the General Information Mailing List. We anticipate that there would be 2–3 emails per month.

Wanted Environmental Journalists … Margaret MacDonald
As regular readers of our Angair Newsletter, you would be aware that the last page of our monthly Newsletter is dedicated to environmental writing on specific topics – plants, birds, mammals, insects, fungi, marine creatures …
From time to time, people from outside our regular contributors have written feature articles for us, and these have been gratefully received. We know that so many of our members have a deep and intense interest and knowledge on so many subjects. If you would like to contribute by writing an article of about 400–500 words on one of your favourite topics, we would love to hear from you. It may just be sharing a wonderful experience in the environmental world. We can provide illustrations to enhance your article.

Aireys Inlet Water Supply
Barwon Water Alliance held an information session on the two options being considered for the upgrade of Aireys Inlet Water Supply, either replacing the ageing treatment plant, or connecting the Painkalac Reservoir to the greater Geelong supply network via a pipeline from Anglesea.
Three Committee members spent considerable time discussing the implications of both options, and the steps that would be taken to minimise environmental impact. There will be another information session in May
Councillors’ Information Email Groups
Councillors Margot Smith and Libby Coker have established an email group to send out information to the Anglesea Ward Community. Communication would be related to council information in the main, but may contain community information. If you would like to subscribe to this, email msmith@surfcoast.vic.gov.au and include “subscribe” in the subject. Lorne Councillor, Clive Goldsworthy, has developed an email group for Lorne ward.
Grevillea infecunda Anglesea Grevillea Survey
Angair members are invited to assist Rani Hunt, Threatened Species Officer with the Department of the Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI), carry out a survey in the Anglesea District on Thursday, 1 May, 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 noon on site (Bring lunch). Restoring Manna Gum Forests in the Otways … Bill McKellar
This is a reminder that Angair has offered to help plant 72,000 Eucalyptus viminalis Manna gums in a conservation area at Cape Otway, on the weekend of 14 & 15 June. Lizzie and Shane Corke, co-founders of the Great Ocean Ecolodge, have invited us to camp, for free, on their property. As an alternative, nearby Bimbi Park has offered special rates for their huts and cabins. (Ring them on 5237 9246).
Saturday night dinner will be provided by Lizzie and Shane for free.

Angair Microscope Group … Les Lyons
Can you help?
A computer microscope has been donated to Angair to help us to extend our education activities for members, members’ children and schools. We now need a suitable, older computer to allow the microscope to be used. We are seeking a computer with Windows 2000 or Windows 7 or Windows 8. No other software is required. A laptop would be the better option for ease of transportation between venues. If you have a suitable machine, recently relegated to a cupboard, that you are prepared to donate to Angair, please contact the office with details.
