Local photographer Rebecca Hosking has applied for funding for a project entitled ‘Trees of the Surf Coast – & Surrounds’ and her application for funding has been approved by the PickMyProject team.

PickMyProject is a funding initiative for Victorians ‘to make their community an even better place to live’. The Project and Community Resource has four outcomes: a community art exhibition, a hardcover book and e-book, a large scale outdoor digital art compilation projection exhibit event, and an app.

There are two steps in the full receiving of funds and the next step is for garnering community support for it to proceed. The project with the highest number of votes in each area is the one that receives funding and can be implemented.

Rebecca’s project will involve photographing and documenting vegetation around the Surf Coast predominantly, mainly on public land. Ecological knowledge forms the basis of research that will be included with indigenous species, biodiversity and habitat as the focus. The information and material will be accessible by all: long- and short-term residents of the Surf Coast and Barwon Region, Surf Coast visitors, and further afield.
If it gets up, it will be a community resource that facilitates greater engagement and appreciation of the diversity of our unique species and coastline.

For regional communities the voting zone is 50km of where it will occur: Anglesea, as that is where the exhibition and launch will occur. People are able to vote for up to three projects.
