Monday morning working bees in April:
We meet at the ANGAIR Office, McMillan St Anglesea at 9.25 am for a 9.30 am start. After the working bee, we will have morning tea at the ANGAIR office.
I am quite excited this month, as we are going to do some work at a new site on April 29. The Paraparap Bushland Reserve of 3.6 hectares is located at the junction of Nortons and Flaxbourne Rds and is managed by Parks Vic. It was protected as a bushland beserve in the final recommendations of the Melbourne Study Area by the Land Conservation Council in January 1977.
Matt Russell from Parks Vic asked our group whether we would be willing to remove environmental weeds at the site. Actually, the reserve is in very good shape except there is quite a bit of Sallow Wattle. Matt hopes to be at the working bee and, will be using a chain saw to remove some of the larger wattles. There are lots of smaller wattles that require loppers for removal. It would be great if we had another good roll up of volunteers and we could remove most of the weeds at one working bee.
