Angair members were saddened to hear of the recent death of Ian Leslie.
Ian was a very active member for a long time, and had interests in many different areas. He was a Committee member from 1988 – 2001, including a great number of years as Treasurer. He was skilled at keeping Committee meetings on track and on time. Ian was a very keen bush walker, and loved the monthly walks and his company was enjoyed by many. He was a tireless worker for the environment, and commenced the monthly Aireys Inlet coastal weeding following Flora Anderson’s original concept.
He and his wife Netta led this group year after year and made a huge difference to the coastal vegetation in that area. He received a Life Membership from Angair in 2009, for his long and valued commitment to the organization. He will be sadly missed.

Wildflower Show Book Stall
Yet again we have to stock a stall at the Angair show with HUNDREDS of YOUR pre loved books!! Yes hundreds!!
I doubt that members have any books left after years of amazing responses to my entreaties, but perhaps you could help by asking your neighbours, friends, family, local library, interest group (eg Probus, choir, class etc.) for books on loosely “natural history” subjects. Unfortunately, we can’t take novels! However, books about birds, flora, vegetation, botany, animals, geology, climate, weather, rocks, native gardens, conservation, beaches, ecology and sustainable building are all suitable subjects. Perhaps, also books about Anglesea and Aireys history etc.

Book Review
A very welcome and valuable book has arrived at the Angair library. Flora of the Otway Plain and Ranges 2 by Enid Mayfield is a comprehensive guide to the dicotyledons of this diverse area. Following the first volume, which dealt with Petaloid monocotyledons, this book describes more than 480 species from coastal dunes, grassy woodlands, open heathlands, cool temperate rainforest and eucalyptus stands.
Enid Mayfield is an illustrative researcher based at the Geelong Botanical Gardens and in this book her detailed meticulous drawings of each species are an excellent guide for botanists and amateurs alike. With clear labelling and informative text to complement the illustrations this book is a must for anyone interested in the flora of the Otway Plain and Ranges.
