Angair is a volunteer organisation dedicated to protecting the natural beauty of the environments of Anglesea and Aireys Inlet. The indigenous flora and fauna of the district are of international significance, however they are under great threat by the invasion of environmental weeds.
Weeds in an urban environment can readily spread into our National Parks and public reserves by wind, water, birds and other vectors and displace indigenous vegetation including rare, threatened or endangered species.
For over 50 years, with its teams of trained volunteers experienced in environmental weed identification and knowledge of indigenous flora, Angair has been at the forefront of weed control in our public places.
Angair is expanding its services to provide a free weed identification service on private land that will also include advice on their replacement with indigenous plants. This way we can all take responsibility for weed management in our community, improve biodiversity and reduce fire hazards.
