The second free community activity made possible by the Barwon Water Community Grants program was a Painkalac Estuary Discovery run by Eco-Logic.
Seventeen people learnt what’s so special about the place where the river meets the sea.
We caught and released juvenile fish using environmentally sensitive seine nets to learn about fish breeding nurseries and habitat.
We also learnt about the importance of estuarine environments and how to protect them, and their physical features and aquatic inhabitants. Eco-Logic’s awesome treasure boxes delighted young and old.

Pete Crowcroft from Eco-Logic was our guide for the day
Sustainability was a key theme of this session.
