Angair talk – Hooded Plovers

Hoodies on the Surf Coast

Janice Carpenter and Kim Hammond

Friday 21 November at 7.30 pm

Anglesea Memorial Hall, McMillan Street

Late last month there were two inhabited nests of the nine breeding pairs of Hooded Plovers that are found on beaches from Lorne in the west to Point Impossible in the east.

Janice Carpenter from the Friends of the Hooded Plover Surf Coast and Kim Hammond from the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority know these birds well. They will talk about their experiences with the Hoodies, what they have learned and what are the highlights of spending time with the birds on the beach.

Community volunteers, land managers and beach users have a huge role to play in Hooded Plover conservation and the Angair Talk is an opportunity to learn how the birds benefit from on-ground action and how everyone can help to ensure that healthy numbers of Hoodies continue to breed in the future.
