Angair Social Evening: Appreciating Shorebirds – their story
Speaker: Tania Ireton
Anglesea Memorial Hall
Renowned and passionate bird expert Tania Ireton will give this month’s Angair Talk about our amazing shorebirds, many of which breed in the northern hemisphere and then fly thousands of kilometres each year to over-winter here.
Like many people, Tania’s interest in birds began by being part of the Gould League in primary school. She has been president of BirdLife Bayside (part of BirdLife Australia) since it began in 1996 and is a member of the Victorian Ornithological Records Appraisal Committee which assesses and adjudicates on claims of rare bird sightings in Victoria.
Although widely travelled in Asia and the Pacific on birding trips, Tania’s principal interest has always been the birds of Australia and its territories. Her talk will be on Friday 24 November at 7.30 pm in the Anglesea Memorial Hall.
