The wind tossed the leaves of the big eucalypts and the birds chattered as some 50 family and friends gathered at Bellbrae Cemetery for Ruth Hurst’s funeral on Wednesday 28 May.

Ruth Hurst
Artist and Angair life member Ruth died last month in her Grovedale care home, aged 97. The outdoor setting of the funeral complemented her love of, and recording of, natural beauty.
Ruth and her husband, Jack, joined Angair in 1978 and were both stalwarts of the Angair Wildflower & Arts Weekend. They were made life members in 2008. Ruth often illustrated Angair publications and drew the charming gift cards that still find eager buyers. The society is privileged to conserve on the Angair Nature Show website many examples of Ruth’s work.
