It was a good day for bird watching weather-wise – sunny and light winds. There was a good turn-up of 16 people to visit Lot 2, which is a property on the Bambra Road (Aireys Inlet) that has been revegetated over the past 7 years. The Painkalac Creek runs along one side of the property, and this provides for some water birds, in addition to the bush birds.

Birdwatchers at Lot 2
We walked around the path on Lot 2, and then down along the creek for 300 metres. There were some good bird sightings, and at the boundary between Lot 2 and the creek there were lots of honeyeaters flashing around including Brown-headed, New Holland, White-eared, White-naped, White-plumed and Yellow-faced Honeyeaters.

White-plumed Honeyeater
It was a big day for Yellow-faced Honeyeaters, and we estimated 150 birds seen during the morning on their autumn northward movement. Other highlights were Bassian Thrush, Whistling Kite and female Flame Robin. Full bird list included below.
We moved to Distillery Creek picnic area for morning tea. We also did a bird list for Distillery Creek, where the Red Wattlebirds were in full cry, and again plenty of honeyeaters in attendance. Highlights included a Dusky Woodswallow and Golden Whistler. Full bird list below.

Eastern Yellow Robin
Everyone had a good time, and some photos included this month since several keen photographers in attendance.
