Anglesea resident Ron Hurst was delighted to see more than 17 Hooded Plovers on the Anglesea River berm early last month. By the time he’d managed to capture this welcome and unusual sight, there were only 13 birds to be seen in the still photograph. But you can also view his video. Hoodie Video

Ron speculated that the large congregation may have occurred because ‘the tide was so high that they possibly had the Anglesea River berm as the only place to play and feed on. The wind may also have collected them together’.
He said that the aim of his sharing the photo and the video with Angair members was as ‘a reward to the Hoodie wardens for all their time-consuming work which is never-ending’. He added that ‘we cannot take our eye off the safety of these little creatures’.
