Getting to know the local birds
Margaret Lacey didn’t take much notice of the birds around her childhood near Nhill. It was not until the early 2000s that she found she couldn’t identify the birds near her holiday retreat in Aireys Inlet so she took to photography to have a permanent, if sometimes fuzzy, record that made identification easy. That was the beginning of The Birds of Aireys Inlet and Anglesea on the Great Ocean Road, a beautiful and useful bird book published in 2017.
Margaret continued to photograph the local birds ever since and her images will underpin her Angair Talk after the annual general meeting on Friday 28 February at the Aireys Inlet Community Hall.
