One of our first greenhood orchids to flower is the Brown-tipped Greenhood, Pterostylis clivosa, with its brown tips visible even as buds. Many are standing tall this year to about 25 cm, perhaps due to the recent rain.

Brown-tipped Greenhood
Together with Tiny Greenhood, P. parviflora, which are also starting to flower now, they have multiple flowers which always face inwards towards the stem. Rosettes on Brown-tipped Greenhoods form on side shoots beside the flowering plant. Look for these delightful orchids on your walks in the bush.
