Alert walkers around Aireys Inlet would have noticed some new signs have sprung up recently around the lower Painkalac Valley. An initiative of the Painkalac Valley Network, the signs are part of the self-guided Painkalac Nature Walk and are designed to add to people’s enjoyment of and knowledge about the area.

The trail is a 2.5 km circuit which will take about 45 minutes to complete. QR codes along the route give information about the diverse plants, fascinating creatures and rich geological and human history of the area. They also describe the estuary’s seasonal cycle and the threats the estuary faces.
