Despite dire weather forecasts, the Angair Wildflower & Arts Weekend was a sunny success. Although numbers of visitors were a little down on last year, the revenue raised to help keep Angair operating was the same as 2024. This was very satisfactory as increasing costs – especially the hiring of buses for the wildflower walks – had driven up the ticket charge.

Forty-five people, a record number, signed up as members. Visitor numbers to the arts part of the weekend were up by 150 to 750 while the value of works sold was only slightly less than last year. Two hundred people were involved in the popular guided tours.

This year saw the organisers attempt to gauge visitor satisfaction and the preliminary results were pleasing. A bigger effort will be made next year to find out what draws people to the annual event in such numbers.

The show co-ordinator, David Walmsley, said that Angair volunteers are the backbone of the show. ‘They contribute in so many ways to make the show informative and engaging. Consequently, the feedback has been extremely positive.’
