ANGAIR ran two Rockpool Rambles in January, one at Aireys Inlet and one at Point Addis.
We were very fortunate to have Danielle Rizzo, the Parks Victoria summer Marine Park Ranger, to lead the walks.
Both days had perfect weather and a good-sized group of both children and adults attended.
Danni’s rapport with the children, in particular, is excellent and they, and the adults learnt many new and interesting facts about the creatures in the sea and the care of marine parks.
The children were very good at finding decorator crabs, discarded crab shells, turban shells and limpets.
Less familiar to them were chitons, with their 8-segmented shells [a bit like slaters], Elephant Snails and a very strange Sea Tulip.
Some distant sightings were dolphins, a Sea Eagle and Pacific Gulls.
ANGAIR thanks Danni sincerely for her time spent with us on two fun days.
