On a vary warm Saturday 31st March, 22 intrepid walkers set off on a 9-10 km ramble up and down a series of un-named bush tracks somewhere in the depths and heights around Distillery Creek Road , Whites Track and Gilbert Street.

Walking

The pace was moderate, as not a lot of flowers were visible at this time. However an orchid Eriochilus cucullatus – Parsons Bands caught some keen eyes. Pockets of Boneseed were also found and vigorously dealt with!

The final leg of the trip was to take in the waterbird life in the “Re-use Water facility” of Barwon Water on Distillery Creek Road. To our unpleasant surprise, a high concrete fence was under construction, obscuring our view of the birds, and its function hard to discern. Otherwise, a very pleasant walk, finishing at 2pm.
