Angair Talk: Fire Plans for 2024

The Angair Talk on 26 April should be a required attendance for all Surf Coast residents who are uncertain or don’t know much about the way the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action (DEECA) plans its fire management.

Aaron Ledden, DECCA’S Senior Forest and Land Operations Officer, briefed some members late last year as part of Angair’s regular meetings with fire management authorities. It was a revealing encounter as Aaron outlined the complex planning that goes into the two different aspects of fire management: risk/asset protection burning around residential areas and conservation burns on precious areas like the Anglesea Heath, which require very different approaches.
