After leaving a car near the Erskine Bridge at Lorne, the walk party assembled at the parking area 8 km up the Deans Marsh road.
The track descends slowly down through cool temperate rainforest to the Little Erskine River which is crossed on a bridge before ascending to the ridge. Morning tea was had near the top of the ridge after which the party continued along the undulating track flanked by tall blue gums the bark from which carpeted the track.
After lunch a number of black cockatoos were observed ripping the bark off wattle trees to obtain grubs.
Finally the group reached the second crossing of the Little Erskine River before steeply descending to the Ocean Road through the Lorne suburbia.
