We had perfect weather, a sunny, mild and calm day with the sun shining through the low vegetation. Common Heath was flowering well. A variety of fungi were seen.
Interesting Coral Fungus
Fairy Stools
Purple Brittlegill
There were good signs of future orchids with leaves appearing. We found a few greenhoods in bud and a few Mosquito Orchids.
A little cross-country
In certain areas the birds seemed to be flocking and feeding together and we were especially pleased to observe a Jacky Winter. As we came out of the forest track for a section along the boundary, we were pleased to see a pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles soaring over the paddocks.
Group watching eagles
It was pleasant walking on mostly flat country with a few short hills. A large group of horse riders passed us twice, which allowed us to step off the track to pull a few small boneseed plants.
This enjoyable, eight km walk, started about half-way between Gundries Rd and Flaxbournes Rd on Forest Rd. It could be extended to 10 kms, or shortened to four or six depending on which tracks are taken.
