The Friends of Point Addis (FoPa) was formed in 2002 to focus on the newly formed Point Addis Marine National Park but now it has disbanded and will become a friends’ group within the Angair family. FoPa was involved in activities such as the Victorian National Parks Association (VNPA) reef watch monitoring programs, the annual Great Victorian Fish Count and Junior Rock Pool Rambles.

FoPa’s activities quickly moved on shore where revegetation projects occurred in highly degraded sites of the surrounding park. Weeds were pulled from the Ironbark Basin and Sea Spurge kept under control on the beaches. Clean Up Australia Day is an annual event supplemented by regular rubbish clean-ups. Concern over Phytophthora Dieback within the Ironbark Basin resulted in a grant to install interpretive signage and the first of three hygiene stations.

Editor’s note: A job well done FoPa members – and a warm welcome to Angair.
