Students from the University of Melbourne are carrying out research on kangaroos at the Anglesea Golf Club. As part of the research, collars and ear tags have been placed on some of the kangaroos. It is important that these kangaroos are monitored as closely as possible, and any that are road kills or die from natural causes are reported to the Department of Sustainability & Environment and you can play a part in this!
Contact saul.vermeeren@dse.vic.gov.au, or phone the Anglesea office, 5263 3712, if you should find a dead kangaroo. Jemma Cripps, who is one of the students,is also keen to hear of any other fresh road kills around Anglesea, as she is studying the effects of parasitism on eastern grey kangaroos, and would like to check any road kills for parasites. These can be reported to the same contacts.
