The Kangaroo Advisory Committee (KAG) met during the month, and Melbourne University, which is monitoring the kangaroo population at the Anglesea Golf Club, reported results of the study. The data collected so far indicates a high mortality rate for kangaroos.
Since 2007, when monitoring started, 45 tagged animals have died, mostly due to road incidents. There is also a high rate of loss of juveniles, with 85% of tagged pouch young being lost. The reason is not known, but predation by foxes is considered the most likely cause.
